Squirrel Scouts
Squirrel Scouts are now the start of young people’s scouting journey having been introduced in September 2021 for boys and girls aged 4 and 5 years meeting in a Squirrel Drey.
Derby East opened, in May 2022 its first Drey at the 66th in Spondon then followed in the autumn a Drey at 132nd and 175th several months later.
The programme is age appropriate with focus on the outdoors and adventure inspired by Forest Schools and with emphasis on participation.
Squirrel leaders will encourage child-initiated activity
